Recently while shopping at Target for school supplies, I walked through the women’s clothing department and was really impressed! I decided to investigate further and found that Target’s newest lines have really upped their fashion game. Shopping at stores like Target are great when you want to try the newest fashion trends, but don’t want to pay big bucks. I often dip my toe in the water of a new trend (like velvet) before going in full force. I thought some of you Mama’s out there might be interested in the best fall fashion that Target has to offer for women, boys and girls. Let us know what you think of this budget fall fashion round-up!

Velvet is huge for Fall and Winter this year! It is on everything from chokers to backpacks to shoes and Target has a fair amount in their women’s department. This first shirt is from A New Day, Target’s brand new clothing line. Jackie purchased this just the other day. These high-tops are perfect for running errands. I love this canary yellow shirt for a night out when the weather is still in transition. These navy shoes are identical to a pair of shoes I recently bought for much more than $19.99 and these d’Orsay flats would be perfect for the office or upcoming holiday parties. I get compliments every time I wear the navy ones, so if you purchase nothing else — get those!! An easy way to incorporate this trend is through a motorcycle or bomber jacket – throw it over a t-shirt and jeans and you are instantly in style. This burnout tunic is great too!
Don’t let the little girls in your life miss out on this trend. They can do a little – with a head wrap– or a lot -with a pink bomber jacket. The skater dress can do double duty as a holiday dress or a daytime tunic over leggings and cool boots. The shoes are cute too! I love the star detail on these sneaks and the pretty burgundy color of these high-tops.
Animal everything is in these days. From prints to embroidered tigers, Target has something for everyone. The chambray shirt with the leopard patch is so cute and the reverse pockets are on trend too. I love the high-low tunic top for girls and I know multiple moms who bought that tiger sweatshirt dress for their little ones! A safari green vest is the perfect year-round topper and the elephant tank would be adorable underneath. Leopard shoes are a fun neutral for everyone. The boots for mom are great for a night out, while the ballet flats are perfect for any girl to wear to school.
The ultimate style staple gets a major update this season. A fun fur collar gives this classic jean jacket a twist – and it’s detachable! They aren’t denim, but these mules look so cute with jeans and they are the must have shoe of the season. Looking for two trends in one? Grab this embroidered denim jacket – Jackie just did! I ordered a pair of these step hem skinny jeans. I adore the bleached look of this western style shirt and Jackie is in love with the sleeves on this blouse.
For boys comfort is key. Enter the sofest pair of motorcycle jeans, a warm pullover, and a cool distressed hoodie vest. Not to be left out of the vest action, the girls’ department has this adorable ombre style available. In terms of the lower half, the distressed jean is still in and I love the splatter addition on this pair. The knee patches are a newer style and how cute are those gold hearts? Overalls are still going strong into fall too, so pick up a pair if you haven’t already.
Camo and military inspired clothing for fall is hardly revolutionary, but Target really did a good job of take those patterns and incorporating other trends in as well. Distressing is still going strong and this layered sweatshirt is a perfect example. Stars all over the runway this year which makes this shirt’s subtle nod is perfect. The lace detail on these boots adds feminine texture to a rough-and-tumble style. The gray tank and anorak jackets are staples to be worn again and again, while Target nailed the cold-shoulder trend with this sweatshirt.
These boots are cute and not too tough for the girl in your life and this vest is a great topper for any outfit. For boys, I’m loving this distressed olive green sweater and this toddler’s cargo jacket. I know the military zip-up says boys but any girl could rock it. This dress is so cute and for those not into the camo style for girls, it comes in solid pink too!
Embroidery and Patches
Another cold-shoulder sweater, this time with cute blue flowers. Both this white blouse and pullover have lovely embroidery that isn’t overwhelming. Don’t even get me started on these boots! I love them! Jackie bought this floral military jacket for her office as well – another way to get 2 trends in at once.
More denim, we know, but how could we resist including this sports jean jacket? The floral jeans and patch covered skinnies are adorable too. For non-denim designs, we love this donut shirt and the superhero bomber jacket. Of course, part of the fun of this trend is doing a little DIY! Cat & Jack have boy and girl patches so you can customize your own clothes.
Let’s face it. Boys’ fashion doesn’t change very often and hoodies will forever be a favorite for kids everywhere. Rather than getting a basic hoodie or one covered in characters (which I can’t stand because my kids inevitably have a new favorite each week,) these hoodies are cool enough for the most fashion forward mom and comfortable enough for any boy to rock without complaint. You can’t go wrong with a splatter paint or graphic black and white version, but this gray one with a pocket is great too! I love the rose gold zipper one and the functionality of the graphic blue zip-up version.
As a mom, I love that it is cool to be a geek! The nerdy chic look is one I totally embrace for my sons. My son owns the I’ve got this t-shirt — it glows in the dark! The brilliant sweatshirt and chess t-shirts are both in my cart to be ordered too. For your gamer, this level up t-shirt is so cute. I adore this sporty cardigan too – it’s so 50s! The rad math club one was chosen by my oldest son who adores math.
Toddler Street Style
I couldn’t leave toddlers out of this lineup! I like to dress my littles in comfy cozy clothes that are easy to move around in, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be cute! For boys, I adore this gray Henley and matching jogger pants or the lightning bolt sweater. The triangle joggers are technically boy pants but I think they would be divine under a tutu. THIS. VEST. IS. EVERYTHING. It would be adorable over the striped dress or the graphic dress too. The play all day shirt is an excellent unisex pick and how practical are these skeggings (skirt with attached leggings!)?
So what do you think of our picks? Will you be making a trip to your local Target anytime soon?
