Blush and more amazing fiction books about wine

Blush by Jamie Brenner

This newest book from Jamie Brenner is a departure from her previous books which have all been set in coastal towns. This story takes place in a vineyard!

Three generations of women must come together to save the family home and livelihood by having the failing vineyard. This would not be an easy task on any day but, they are also fighting against sexism and the belief that a women’s role is elsewhere.

Vivian, Leah, and Sadie must each confront their pasts and their own demons in order to come together.

Thank you Putnam for my copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The Lost Vintage and more fiction books about wine

The Lost Vintage by Anne Mah

This book feels like a warm hug. A little bit of historical fiction, a little bit of a mystery, a little bit of romance. It was so nice to read at sunset with a glass of wine. The writing, the story, the whole thing made this book a no-brainer for our feel-good books list.

Kate is working to become a certified wine expert and the only thing standing in her way are the Burgundy wines at her family’s estate (and her first love who lives nearby).

While dealing out the basement filled with generations of belongings, Kate starts to learn about her family during the WWII occupation. Do yourself a favor. Have a bottle of red and a charcuterie board at the ready while reading. And be sure to check out our list of more than 50 books for book clubs!

dead letters

Dead Letters by Caite Dolan-Leach

Where to begin with this thrilling story? I loved just about everything in this A-to-Z mystery. The dark, twisted plot of Dead Letters begins when Ava returns hometown to her family’s failing vineyard to deal with the death of her twin, Zelda, in a barn fire.

The story immediately launches into a few mysteries. First, and the most easily solved, why did Ava flee the family vineyard for Paris 2 years ago? Second, is Zelda really dead? This is one of the fiction books about wine you won’t want to miss.

Fiction Books about Wine

Midnight at the Wandering Vineyard by Jamie Raintree

A coming-of-age story featuring Mallory and her return home to the family vineyard. When Mallory returns to her family winery to celebrate a major milestone, she is reunited with her former best friend and her ex. Her reconnections with them force her to remember the last summer they spent together. Will she repeat the same mistakes again or will she figure out who she really is?

Billionaires vinegar

The Billionaire’s Vinegar by Benjamin Wallace

Ok, so technically this is a non-fiction book but it’s so engrossing that it reads like fiction. This book tells the fascinating story of a $156,000 bottle of wine that was allegedly owned by Thomas Jefferson. Is it real or a con? Wallace digs in and uncovers the cast of characters that surround the mysterious bottle of wine in this suspenseful tale.

Bend toward the Sun

Bend Toward the Sun by Jen Devon

Rowan has a Ph. D in botany and is suffering from a setback in her research. She decides to take a position to help restore a winery vineyard until she is able to resume her research and start a post-doc position. She has her two best friends and that is all she needs after an emotionally abusive mother and a similar ex-fiance.

She does not expect to meet Harrison, an OB who has issues of his own. This is such a well-written romance and I loved seeing these two characters overcome heartache and distrust. This is a fun one that is also on our list of fiction books about wine and is such a great pick from ultimate beach reads 2023.

Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory

Drunk on Love Jasmine Guillory

Jasmine Guillory never fails to entertain with her romances. This is definitely hot and steamy and is a perfect romance to go on our list of fiction books about wine.

Margot noble works in Napa at her family’s winery. When she meets a very handsome stranger and they have a steamy one-night stand, she thinks she will never see him again until he shows up at the winery the next day as the new hire.

Obviously, this can become a very bad situation. The chemistry between these two is undeniable.

Goodbye Lark Lovejoy

Goodbye, Lark Lovejoy by Kris Clink

This is the perfect feel good read for a hectic week. Lark Lovejoy is a 38 year old widow with two young boys. She decides to move back to her hometown and try and move forward with her life.

Will she have the guts to start winemaking as she always wanted to do before becoming a lawyer? And will she finally find a way to be happy again?

Lark did not expect to meet a younger man with his own difficult past. Despite sad moments and difficult topics, I found this book thoroughly enjoyable and difficult to put down. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

  1. Thank you, Kirsten and Jackie, for this wonderful list of fiction to read with wine! I recently read Ann Mah’s “The Lost Vintage” and loved it. I agree, it is a feel-good book and couldn’t put it down. Because of the winery setting, I decided to have some wine while reading it, which turned out to be a spectacular idea! I would suggest another book to add to your Fiction and Wine list. Last weekend, I read “Short Stories to Enjoy with Wine” by Stephen Kristof. A few of the stories take place at wineries, but the others are very wide ranging and they all kept my attention (despite the effects of the wine). I won’t say how, but they all connect with wine, which made the book a natural to enjoy with my favorite bevvie! Thanks again for all of your reviews and recommendations!
