A Gatsby-Inspired New Year’s Eve!
Sure, New Year’s Eve may be six weeks away, but it’s never too early to start planning a party. We are roaring into 2020 so why not throw a Gatsby-inspired New Year’s Eve?!?!? I mean, who doesn’t love F. Scott Fitzgerald’s champagne, flapper, speak-easy vibes? Personally? I’m all in for a fringe and pearl moment. That’s why I threw together this party plan. You don’t need to save this Gatsby party for NYE – you can use it year-round with ease. So get inspired and throw a literary bash even non-readers will enjoy!

Great Gatsby Decor
1920’s Skyscraper Candle Covers are made of vellum and look incredible with led votives inside.
I love this Gatsby photo booth backdrop. Imagine all your favorite friends decked out in gear posing for selfies with this easy backdrop. Don’t love this particular one? We like this one and this one too!
Embrace the literary roots of The Great Gatsby with this amazing F Scott banner!
These feathered centerpieces are amazing! But you can make your own with some feathers and these bottles! We recommend they go over black tablecloths, with gold plates, and these roaring 20s napkins.
Welcome your guests with this New Year’s sign! The digital downloads make these easy and fast decor and the illustrator has matching signs for the bar, bathrooms, photo booths and more!
Roaring Good Time Balloons are great at the entrance or as another high-impact, low-budget photo backdrop.
Gatsby Food
What is a party without food and we rounded up recipes for foods discussed in The Great Gatsby starting with this Lemon Cake Recipe from Through Her Looking Glass. This was a dessert featured in the book when Nick served them at Tea.
Another recipe coming into style around 1920 – FRIED CHICKEN! Tom and Daisy are seen with this on the table after the big accident. Feel free to cheat and grab some KFC!
At Nick’s first Gatsby party he sees many spiced baked hams on Gatsby’s tables right next to harlequin salads. What now? Well, salads were coming into vogue around this time and, in particular, The Waldorf Salad was being served all over.
Ever heard of a Gin Rickey? Well, Tom drinks quite a lot fo them in the book. So surprise your guests with this signature cocktail.
Also, you need some deviled eggs. Trust. They are a big hit, easy to make in bulk and were def the appetizer trending at the time.
Gatsby Costumes
I love this newsboy costume for the men in your life – bonus….he can carry the car keys for once!
Looking for a longer skirt and a bit more warmth? This Charleston costume is perfect!
Wanna go the casual laugh-inducing route? Can we suggest the female and male 1920s beach costumes…they are hysterical and we guarantee you’ll be comfy all night!
We had to include at least one traditional flapper costume! This one comes with all the accessories and is available in a plethora of colors.
Don’t let the men have all the fun – this gangster gal costume shows everyone who’s the real (mob) boss. Your man is def gonna want in on this…so we’ve got the men’s version for you too.
