The April 2023 book releases are refreshing and the perfect books for the start of spring. It is almost the start of the beach read season so this list is filled with great mysteries and thrillers, fiction and romances. We have a little bit of everything else as well.

Most Anticipated April 2023 Fiction Book Releases
The Society of Shame by Jane Roper
Genre: Fiction
Plot: Kathleen Heid’s Life is completely turned upside down when she is photographed with a period stain on the back of her pants. Kathleen finds herself as the head of a woman’s movement, #YesWeBleed. She starts to use her newfound fame to reclaim herself but in doing so she neglects the relationship with her daughter. Of all the April 2023 book releases, this one looks completely original and unlike anything else!
Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld
Genre: Fiction
Plot: Sally Milz is a sketch writer for a late-night comedy show. She begins to write a sketch called the Danny Horst Rule which makes fun of the fact that average-looking men date gorgeous women, but the reverse almost never happens. When a pop music icon signs on as the musical guest and host for the show for the week, sparks begin to fly, but Sally knows this is real life, not a movie. We love Curtis Sittenfeld and of all the April 2023 book releases, this is one of the books we cannot wait to read.
Sea Change by Gina Chung
Genre: Fiction
Plot: Ro is in her thirties and things have not gone as planned. She works at a menial job in the mall and her only friend is the Giant Pacific Octopus named Dolores in the mall aquarium that is also the last link she has to her dad who was a marine biologist. When Dolores is sold to an investor who wants her for a private aquarium, it sends Ro on a quest to come to terms with her past. Advika and the Hollywood Wives by Kirthana Ramisetti

When his first wife dies and leaves Advika $1,000,000 under the stipulation that she divorce him, she starts to question her feelings for him and his sudden desire to start a family. This is a brand new book from GMA Book Club Author!
Symphony of Secrets by Brendan Slocumb
Genre: Literary Fiction
Plot: This is the newest novel from the best-selling author of the Violin Conspiracy, a GMA Book Club Pick. When a Professor discovers that a famous American Composer stole his work from a Black composer named Josephine Reed, he will not stop until Josephine gets the recognition that she deserves. This pick from the list of April 2023 book releases is sure to be a huge best-seller.
Audrey Hepburn Estate by Brenda Janowitz

Plot: Emma grew up on a Long Island Estate and wants to see it one more time before it is demolished. Her father worked on the estate and she lived above the garage like the characters from Sabrina. She never felt like she fit in except with the driver’s son, Leo, and the family’s grandson and former love, Leo. Now, the house will reveal its secrets and Emma will have to decide who she wants to be.
The Last Animal by Ramona Ausubel
Genre: Fiction
Plot: Eve and Vera are teenagers who have to spend the summer with their mother on a trip to the Artic on a scientific expedition. While fooling around, they accidentally discover a 4000-year-old baby mammoth that makes them all go rogue. This book from the April 2023 book releases is perfect for our list of 22 Books about Women in the Workplace.
Moorewood Family Rules by HelenKay Dimon
Genre: Fiction
Plot: This looks like a hilarious pick from our list of April 2023 book releases that is a family drama and comedy rolled up into one twisty novel about a woman and her con artist family. Jullian Moorewood just spent 39 months in jail covering for her family only to find them up to their same old schemes. She is determined to get her life back together and get her family to clean up their act.

The Last Heir to the Blackwood Library by Hester Fox

Plot: Ivy Radcliffe inherits an estate on the Yorkshire moors and is suddenly, Lady Hayworth. There are plenty of rumors about the Abbey’s previous owners but Ivy is enthralled with the fantastic library on the estate. She feels that something else is in the library with her amid rumors of curses and ghosts. The Cuban Heiress by Chanel Cleeton

Plot: This new historical fiction by the best-selling author of Havana, a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub pick is based on the true story of the SS Moro Castle. The round trip from New York to Havana puts Catherine and Elena together to seek justice, but they must risk everything. We love Cleeton and this is one of the April 2023 book releases we are very excited to read.
The Golden Doves by Martha Hall Kelley
Genre: Historical Fiction
Plot: This is the historical fiction book from this list of April 2023 new releases that I want to read the most. If you love historical fiction then this post-WWII book will be right up your alley. From the best-selling author of the Lilac Girls comes a story based on the lives of “The Doves”. These former spies for the French resistance accept an assignment a decade after the war to find the infamous Nazi doctor who committed heinous atrocities during the war.
Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane
Genre: Historical Fiction
Plot: In the summer of 1974 Mary Pat’s teenage daughter does not return from a night out. on the same night, a young Black man is struck dead by a subway train in suspicious circumstances. When Mary Pat receives no answers, she begins to connect the disappearance and the death and begins uncovering explosive secrets. This is one historical fiction from our list of April 2023 book releases that is sure to be unputdownable.
Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl by Renee Rosen

Plot: Gloria Downing is trying to reinvent herself after a family scandal and Estee Lauder is determined to become a household name. The Haunting of Alejandra by V. Castro
Genre: Literary horror/ folklore/ fantasy

Alejandra was adopted as has to delve deeply into the history of the women in her family to give herself the strength she needs to banish La Llorona. Of all the books on the list of April 2023 book releases, this is the only book of folklore and it looks fantastic.
