An Adventure to Longwood Garden with Chrysanthemum

Longwood Gardens trip with moms and kids. Fountains, chrysanthemums, lily pads and more.

As Kirsten and I started to plan what to do with the kids on their day off of school, I started to get a little nostalgic.  I realized that this is the last year I will have these special days off with my daughter because next year she will be in  “big kid” school with her brothers.  We wanted to do something fun for the kids and for us as well.   When I mentioned to Kirsten that I had not been to Longwood Gardens  in 6 years, she knew immediately that this was the perfect place for an adventure with the kids.  It was a gorgeous day and it flew by too fast.

The Hate U Give & 11 Other Thought Provoking Reads

The Hate U Give is one of the most though provoking books I've read this year. Here are 10 more to read if you liked it.

When I first had my children, I had a hard time looking at the state of the world around me.  Call it hormonal, call it denial — I referred to it as self-preservation.  I’ve talked about my love for Fluff Reads before and there is a time and place for a book that just makes you smile. But I have been feeling more and more recently that I need to wake the hell up and take a good look at the world outside my bubble. I noticed that this year, Jackie and I have both tackled books that have some hard-hitting material. I feel that my social consciousness has been elevated everytime I read a book with tough subject matter. Continue reading “The Hate U Give & 11 Other Thought Provoking Reads”

Great Scot!!! Droughtlander is Over!!!!!

Droughtlander is over. Outlander's long awaited premiere is here! But was it worth the wait?

It took 18 months but the Droughtlander is finally over!!! If you don’t know what I am talking about, run to your television, turn on Starz, and binge-watch the first two seasons of Outlander.  This TV series is based on the books written by Diana Gabaldon.  Each season is one book in the series.  For all of us Outlander fans, I think we can agree that the Starz series is perfectly cast.   But, I get ahead of myself.  First, the book. 17 of the Best Books for Outlander Fans

The best books for outlander fans!

Forget that Winter is coming (or is here I suppose.) More importantly, Outlander Season 3 is debuting September 10. We are both huge fans of this book and tv series. Starz’s Season 3 is an adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s third book in the series, Voyager. The book, which is excellent, features Claire and Jamie’s lives apart and their attempted reunion. This story has so many components that move the plot along and seems like 7 books in one! And at 1072  pages it is as long as seven books! We are happy that our Droughtlander is over but we wanted to share the books that got us through the wait.  Continue reading “17 of the Best Books for Outlander Fans”
