The holiday season is in full swing and with that comes holiday shopping. We all love the ease of an Amazon purchase in our sweatpants, but what makes our communities tick are the small mom-and-pop stores that locals run. These local stores are more likely to give back to the community. It’s been estimated that 48% of your purchase dollars go back into the community as opposed to the 14% of big box stores. PLUS the local shops have unique items that are so different than larger chains. From cooler toys to unique clothes, amazing homewares to FABULOUS books (obvi), these stores have something for everyone. Got a hard to please Secret Santa? Head to a local store where the salespeople offer great gifting suggestions for everyone. Shopping Local is important. Small Business Saturday is important – so we’ve rounded up the best deals on local stores for this coming season. Main Point Books
We love Main Point books. It is a real reader’s space with a ton of books, great staff, and places to sit and get comfy. There will be authors coming in all day, a free book with a purchase, and goodies for kids.

On Small Business Saturday we are part of Indie’s First which is a campaign by the American Booksellers Association. The ABA started an initiative a few years ago to get authors to help out in their local bookstores- they do everything from recommend books, to sell books and even wrap books (and of course sign their books!). We are fortunate to have Amy Ignatow (Popularity Papers, The Odds Series) come and help us on that Saturday. She will be here from 11-3.

This is an amazing family concept store. There is something for everyone from books to adult and children’s toys. Everything in this store is unique and beautiful. They will be having special gift-with-purchase on Friday and Saturday. If you have never been in this store, it is truly a gem!
