Vacation Books Summer 2021
What a ride! Jean Hanff Korelitz’s thriller is quite something. It’s one I just adored even if I did figure the big twist out early on. It’s the journey with this book.
Jacob is a formerly successful writer who is struggling to write his next great novel. His student Evan dies without having published his own incredible story, so Jacob decides to write it himself to great critical acclaim.
But then someone starts threatening to expose him for the theft of the story, launching him into the truth behind the tale he wrote about.
Thanks to Celadon Books for my review copy. All opinions are my own.
This newest book from Jamie Brenner is a departure from her previous books that have all been set in coastal towns. This story takes place on a vineyard!
Three generations of women must come together to save the family home and livelihood by having the failing vineyard. This would not be an easy task on any day but, they are also fighting against sexism and the belief that a women’s role is elsewhere.
Vivian, Leah and Sadie must each confront their pasts and their own demons in order to come together.
Thank you Putnam for my copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Sherri Taylor is 19 years old when she becomes the newest bunny in the hutch at the playboy resort. After her parents die in a short period of time. Sherri quickly settles into a life of sex, drugs and rock and roll.
As she navigates life, love and friendship, she learns what sisterhood really is.
This book is unlike anything that I have read before.
Thank you Macmillian Audio for my copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This is the perfect book for anyone who loves a family drama. After a terrible car accident, Sunday is convinced to move back home with her family to recover and help with the family business that is close to financial ruin.
But, what she finds are the family secrets long buried and the potential to cause her family further disruption. This story is about the bonds of family and the secrets we keep to protect those we love.
The quirky personality of Ava, the protagonist in this tale, is reminiscent of Eleanor Oliphant. Being inside Ava’s unique brain was a real treat.
Ava works as an engineer at a furniture company similar to Ikea. She has the same routine every day and is rather isolated socially until Mat Putnam bursts into her life.
As her backstory unfolds, this books goes from romance to thriller in the most delightful way. One of the most original vacation books of 2021. It’s a must-read for laughs and suspense.
CREEPY THRILLER VIBES ALERT. The premise of this book is perfect for true-crime documentary fanatics. The Lighthouse children are named after famous murder victims. They live in a creepy house, known as murder mansion to locals, and live an isolated life.
After their father dies, Dahlia and her two siblings return home for the first time since her twin, Andy, disappeared 9 years earlier. When they bury their father, they find Andy’s body already in his family plot.
Dahlia vows that she won’t leave again until she uncovers Andy’s murderer, but the family secrets she unearths might turn her into the next victim.
I absolutely love this book. I am so glad that I waited to read it when I had the time to savor every word. Part historical fiction, part mystery and part love story, this book was so well-written and the story was delivered perfectly.
In 2017 Aurelia inherits an apartment in Paris when her grandmother dies. She is not prepared for what she finds inside the apartment that she never new existed. Now she must get the help of an art restorer to discovery the history and the mystery surrounding the apartment and its contents.
in 1942 Estelle is living in Paris under Nazi occupation. When the Germans come to take away her beloved friends, Estelle does everything she can to help them.
