Every year I struggle with how to keep track of my reading. I read a lot but, even if you just read a few books a year, it becomes hard to remember books from even a few months ago. This free Printable Reading Log is a way for you to keep track of the books you read and so much more.

Why Should I Use a Reading Log?

Do you ever wonder “What should I read next?”. If so, a reading log is a perfect thing for you! As you look back and the books you have read and loved, you will see a pattern and be able to hone in on books you will love.

Reading Goals/ Books Read:

This is where you can set a reading goal for yourself in the Reading Log Printable and keep track of how many books you are able to read. You can choose to read one book a month, a dozen, or more. This is not a competition! We wanted to find a way to help you challenge yourself in a fun way.

Number of Books Read:

This page in the Reading Log Printable is a place for you to keep track of the number of books read as you read them. As you read a book, you can number the blocks, color the blocks, or both. Use this page however it works for you. There is something very satisfying about seeing your reading progress in real-time.

Alphabet Challenge:

This fun challenge lets you try and read a book for every letter of the alphabet. Some of the letters are more difficult than others so I think about these and plan. We included a few fun bonuses as well with this part of the Reading Log Printable.

Reading Stats

Have you ever wondered about the kinds of books you read over a year? We created this tracker for your reading stats to keep track of how you like to read, your star ratings, the number of pages, genres, and more. At the end of the year, this page of the Printable Reading Log always offers some great insight.

Book Battle

This is my favorite part of the Reading Log Printable. This book battle will help you choose your favorite book of the year! You start with your favorite book of the month and battle it out with the next month. The winner goes to the next round until the best of the best is chosen!

Have you checked out our post 85+ Great Books Becoming Movies or TV Series in 2023? This post fulfills the January Prompt for The Beyond The Bookends’ 2023 Reading Challenge. Most of the time, I feel like the book was better, but if you can find a movie that is better, I want to know!!

Map Challenge

We thought it would be fun to add a map challenge to the free Printable Reading Log. There are so many fun ways to use this. Print it up and use a different color for each year to see if you can read your way around the world or, print it up and overlay transparent paper so you can see where you traveled on your book journey over multiple years.

How Should I Set Up My Reading Journal?

There are so many ways to set this up! One easy way is to print up each page and glue them in an 8.5 x 11 notebook. This is a fun way to set up your Reading Log Printables. Another way to set up your journal is to use a disc system and insert the pages. This way allows you to easily move the pages around or take them out to fill them in. If crafting is not your thing, or you want something simple, you can print up the pages and staple them together or put them in a folder. There is no wrong way to enjoy these!
