February 2026 Book Releases
I am so excited about the February 2026 book releases, and I cannot wait to get my hands on these books. It is always so much fun finding the upcoming new books. I included a list of the books I am most excited to read, along with a brief summary of each book.

This month, there are some fantastic picks. I love seeing some of the trends that are popping up this year. The books about books trend continues this month with a new book by Kate Quinn. This book is a work of magical realism, which is not something we have seen from Quinn Before. I believe this is the year of the bibliophile.
Another trend that I noticed is the number of magical cat books. This month, I have two! I read a few last year that I loved, and I’m so excited that this trend is on an upward trajectory. The first is by the author of the Emily Wilde series, and the second is a book translated from Japanese. I can’t wait to read these books.
In the world of nonfiction, I have noticed more books that mix a memoir with nature. This month it is about Owls, but last year Kirsten and I read about Rabbits and Bats!
I am also excited about the four debut authors we have on the list of new books for February 2026. I hope you will add a few of them to your TBR.
If you want some in-depth reviews before the books are published, you can check out our Beyond the Bookends Book Club. We host a monthly Zoom meeting where we share our favorite upcoming books with you. We give you the scoop on what to read and what to skip!
You can help authors by going into your favorite reading app and adding these books to your To Be Read pile. You can also head to your local indie bookstore and pre-order the books you know you will love. This helps the authors a lot. All the books on this list are linked to Libro.fm and Bookshop.org. Both of these sites are associated with independent bookstores!

This Book Made Me Think of You
Author: Libby Page
Release Date: Feb 3, 2026
Genre: Fiction
Spice Rating:💋
Age Range:
Plot
Tilly is trying to navigate life without her husband Joe, who died five months ago. When she gets a call from a local bookstore saying a birthday gift from her husband is waiting for her, she is shocked. Alfie, the owner of the bookshop, explains that her husband left her a year’s worth of books. He carefully chose one book a month to help her navigate the first year without him and included a note with each one.
The book follows Tilly over the course of the year as she navigates her life without her husband. She looks at her life, her job, and her relationships with a new eye. Each book seems to come at the exact right time.
Trigger Warnings
Death of a spouse
Why Jackie loves it
I absolutely loved this book. At its heart, it is a book about the power of books to help with healing and overcoming grief. I laughed with Tilly and felt her pain. I was rooting for her from the first page.

Superfan
Author: Jenny Tihghui Zhang
Release Date: February 3, 2026
Genre: Fiction
More info: National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree
Plot
Minnie is a freshman in college who is struggling to fit in, find friends, and find her place. When she discovers a boy band called HOURglass she feels an instant connection to them and when she finds the online fandom, she feels like she has finally found her people. Minnie quickly falls for Halo, one of the band members.
This is a dual-narrative story with Halo as the second POV. He has worked desperately to leave his past life and secrets behind him and will do almost anything to keep them buried. He is still haunted by a horrible accident that occurred while he was in high school. When a scandal threatens to expose him, Minnie thinks she is the only one who can help him.
Trigger Warnings
Drug use, sexual assault
Why Jackie likes it
The dual narrative kept the story moving. Minnie’s POV was difficult to listen to because of the trauma she endured. Her social life was so awkward that it was painful. I really loved Halo’s POV in the story. Thank you, # MacmillanAudio, for my copy of this book.

Family Drama
Author: Rebecca Fallon
Year: 2026
Genre: Fiction
More info: Debut Novel
Spice Rating:💋💋
Age Range: 16+
Plot
In this haunting debut, 7-year-old twins Sebastian and Viola are devastated at the loss of their mother, Susan. When they grow up, Sebastian and Viola discover that their mother used to be a famous Soap star. Sebastian wants to know all about the woman whose absence was all-consuming, but Viola shies away from her memories until she meets her mother’s famous co-star and is forced to confront her feelings and learn about her mother after all.
Trigger Warnings
Cancer
Why Kirsten loves it
I’ll forever love a family saga and this one delivers in major ways! The nonlinear storytelling helped me feel connected to Susan even though the story opened with her death. It also helped guide my feelings towards her children, her husband, and even about her – I don’t think any of the emotional punches would have delivered in a standard format. I might not have even liked Susan if the story was told another way!
Sebastian’s story was interesting, but it was Viola who stole the show for me. I loved how she ended up addressing her grief. I connected with all of the characters at various times and I was so sad when the story ended. #Gifted by Simon & Schuster

Enter Flick, a charming young reporter who is happy to spend her summer traveling around Europe looking for the villain of Maggie’s (and probably a few other women’s) story.
Why Kirsten loves it
What a fun story! I loved how these women bonded during their Euro summer trip! From planes to cars to boats, this book has all forms of transport, but the road trip bits were my favorite as they allowed Flick to learn Maggie’s backstory. The ending left me smiling. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a fun beach read! #gifted by Zibby Publishing

Why Kirsten loves it
I was consumed by this book from the opening scene on the airplane to Ireland. Saoirse’s life was harrowing and traumatic, and watching her come into her own was deeply moving. My anxiety was at an all-time high when her past began to catch up with her, but the ending left me satisfied in a way I wasn’t sure would be possible. #Gifted by Celadon Books

Jackie’s Thoughts
This book is very well written with an interesting story that kept me very interested. I’m fascinated by cults, so this book was right up my alley. The story was such a mind-bender that left me questioning whether Catharine was a victim or a manipulator until the very end. A Sociopath’s Guide to a Successful Marriage
Author: MK Oliver
Year: 2026
Genre: Mystery Thriller

This funny mystery is all about Lalla, a woman trying to do it all – help her husband make partner, get her daughter into an exclusive private school, secure her dream home, and host a damn-good birthday party for her 4-year-old. All of which hits a snag when she murders a thief attempting to break into her house, and kinda likes it. Now she needs to frame a friend, dispose of a body, and figure out how to hide her past from the police.
Why Kirsten loves it
I love to root for an anti-hero, and Lalla is the perfect one! Lalla’s unique inner monologue made for delightful reading, and the increasingly fraught scenarios were humorous and suspenseful at the same time! Lalla’s narration style won’t be for everyone but if you liek Joe’s narration in You or the story Best Offer Wins, then this will be right up your alley. #Gifted by Atria and S&S Audio.

They embark on a summer fling, with no plans to catch feelings…until they do.
Why Kirsten loves it
This romance was a sweet one with two main characters you were rooting for the whole time! I love that there was no third-act break-up and the steamy scenes were too steamy or gratuitous!
