70 Agatha Christie Books in Order: The Best Novelist in History (+PDF) 15

Agatha Christie has written so many books that it is practically impossible to read all the Agatha Christie books in order. But the good news is you do not have to. I certainly didn’t.

Agatha Christie’s Thirteen Problems, which stars Miss Marple, was the first adult mystery book I ever read. My dad, a huge mystery reader, handed it to me when I was in Middle School and I’ve been a fan ever since.

Since then, I’ve read dozens of Agatha Christie books. In addition to listing all her books in order, I’ve included my personal favorites in a ranked list as well.

Worldwide, Agatha Christie’s books have sold more than 2 billion copies. Her play, The Mousetrap has been watched 10 million times in London since 1952, and she has been translated to over 100 languages.

Outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare, Agatha Christie is the best-selling novelist in history. And Then There Were None is the best-selling crime novel in the world.

10 Best Agatha Christie Books

Murder on the Orient

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

This is a classic and a must-read on our list of detective books.  It’s one of those books that unless you know the ending, you would never guess it.  So well-devised, this book is a definite favorite and it all takes place on a train in the middle of a snowy tundra.

Will you be able to guess who the murderer is in this locked room mystery before the famed Hercules Poirot? This is one of my favorite adaptations of the Hercule Poirot books.

and then there were none

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

I was so hooked by this British murder mystery/thriller. A mysterious person is trying to right the wrongs of the past by luring unsuspecting criminals to a deserted island…and then murdering them one by one.

But who is the killer? Why are they killing? And just how long have they been stalking their prey? You have to figure out whodunit in this unreliable narrator book.

death on the nile

Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie is the queen of mysteries and this story is no exception. Set aboard a river yacht during a trip down the Nile, a murder unfolds and Hercules Poirot must solve it!

I did NOT see the ending coming, that’s for sure. This boat book was recently adapted for Amazon and it was delightful to see it brought to life.

A Pocket Full of Rye by Agatha Christie and more fiction books about tea

A Pocket Full of Rye by Agatha Christie

This book is Agatha Christie at her finest, a layered murder mystery that opens with murder by tea!! If you are a mystery lover, you must read a pocket full of rye. It’s the perfect one-sitting read and one of my favorite Miss Marple books. Just no poison in your tea, ok?

Hercule Poirot's Christmas

Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie

Another wonderful mystery by Agatha Christie. I just adore her mystery books because I am always stumped! They are generally very quick reads, which is why I was able to start and finish this book on Christmas day.

Once again Poirot solves the mystery quite quickly and uncovers many family secrets along the way.

lord edgware dies

Lord Edware Dies by Agatha Christie

This story features detective Hercule Poirot who has been summoned to investigate the murder of the wealthy Lord Edgware. Poirot dives into the case, deftly unraveling a web of lies and secrets.

As always, I was stumped by this case and didn’t see the solution to the problem.

murder of roger ackroyd

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

I like Miss Marple, but Hercule Poirot is my favorite Agatha Christie character. In this mystery, Poirot has been recruited to solve the murder of Roger Ackroyd in the middle of a small English village.

ABC murders

The A.B.C. Murders by Agatha Christie

Recently made into an Amazon movie, this story is quite clever! It features a serial killer know as ABC, who murders in alphabetical order. Poirot solves the case of course, but it was such a unique premise.

after the funeral

After the Funeral by Agatha Christie

Set immediately after the death of Richard Abernethie’s funeral, his sister is convinced that he was murdered. Hercule Poirot swiftly descends, interviewing the gathered family to get to the bottom of the patriarch’s death.

sleeping murder

Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie

I think about this Miss Marple story all the time. When Gwenda moves into a new home with her husband, eerie things start to happen and Gwenda begins to feel familiar with the house in ways she shouldn’t. Enter Miss Marple to solve the case! This is my favorite of all the Miss Marple books!
