Dakota Johnson Book Club: Teatime Book Club

The Dakota Johnson Book Club, also known as the Teatime Book Club, started in March 2024. Together with Ro Donnelly (a former Netflix exec), Dakota Johnson founded the Teatime production company. Its goal is to find books to adapt for film and television. It is only fitting that from that, we would get the Dakota Johnson Book Club, also called the Teatime Book Club. I could not find a complete list of the teatime books with the month the books were chosen, so I decided to make that list myself.

Dakota Johnson Book Club: Teatime Book Club

The Teatime book club operated primarily through Instagram. Members who subscribe to the channel will receive the book choice along with supplementary materials like playlists, video content, author interviews, and more.

On her Instagram, Johnson says that she will “send you down a rabbit hole”. Johnson also has a list of books that she loves on her Bookshop.org Teatime Book Club list. But that list does not include information about what month and year the book was chosen. I included that for you here. The books are not new releases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Teatime book club open to everyone?

No and Yes. You can find a complete list of all the books from the Teatime book club on this list. You must be a subscribing member of the book club to receive the supplementary materials, video content, and author reviews.

How is The Dakota Johnson Book Club different from The Reese Witherspoon Book Club?

Both the Teatime Book Club and Reese’s Book Club have tie-ins to production companies. Both book clubs choose a book every month. But, unlike Reese, Dakota is not considered one of the “big four”. Reese announces her book choice but does not provide supplemental resources.

If you are a member of Dakota’s book club, she offers supplemental resources and author interviews, like the Beyond the Bookends Book Club.

The Teatime books are considered more literary fiction. I think her choices more closely resemble Oprah’s picks in that respect.
