Fourth Wing Theories
I have so many Fourth Wing theories and questions after I finished reading Onyx Storm. The Empyrean series is a fantasy romance series that has fans reeling after the cliffhanger at the end of the third book.
My thoughts on Onyx Storm are pretty clear. You can read the full summary of Onyx Storm and get a list of characters as well as my thoughts in my two posts. I love a good mystery and one of the things that I do love about the series is the way Yarros leaves us wanting more answers at the end of the books.
I spend hours writing my questions, taking notes, and reading through theories. There is a lot to wade through. These are the questions that I had while reading. If you have more questions or theories, please let me know and I will add them to my list. Maybe if we work together, we can get some answers in the fourth book.
It took me a long time to read this book because I felt like there were a lot of things throughout the book that were intentionally drawn out and I did not love how it affected the pacing of the book. With all that being said, I liked the ending and the uncertainty, but I wish I had more answers.

Fourth Wing Theories: What to think after reading Onyx Storm
That being said, these are my Questions and Fourth Wing theories.
- What is the significance and importance of Violet’s Second Signet?
- How and why can Violet communicate with Tairn on the Islands?
- How does Violet make lightning strike on an island with no magic?
- How can she use dreamwalking to change the course of the war?
- Is her signet actually lightning wielding or can she manipulate pure power and just does not know it yet?
- How can she have Andarna’s power after she severs ties? Does that mean Violet has a third signet?
- When did Violet’s dad do all the research? How did he know to hide it all?
- Why didn’t Xaden use his innitinnsic powers to help them?
- Why does Lynx get shadow powers? I understand the concept of balance, but this seems ridiculous since earlier in the book it says that the most powerful signets come together once in a century.
- Why does Tairn refuse to refer to Naolin?
- Do you think we will get confirmation that Naolin and Brennan were in love?
- Why does Brennan have a rune-shaped scar on his palm?
- Why did Sloane not leave a mark on Brennan when he was saving Mira?
- How did the Irids know that Xaden was venin- why did his eyes change in front of them when he did not channel?
- Why do the venin want Andarna so much?
- Andarna can kill Venin. I think there is a deeper connection between the Venin and Irids.
- Why did Asher try to dedicate Violet to Dunne?
- Theophanie is not a lightning wielder, she is a storm wielder- Lilith’s opposite. What is the significance of this?
- There are so many references to Violet having Xaden’s soul. Does this mean she has a connection to Dunne and Malik?
- Everyone is talking about Violet being pregnant. I hope she is not.
- Am I the only one who thinks Asher Sorrengail is alive?
- I think her connection to Dunne is going to give her access to more power.
- What role will the Gods play in the next books?
- Both Dunne and Loial require a lifetime of service. This quote at the beginning of chapter 48 leads to so many questions and theories.
- I think there is significance to counting the days between channeling. Some people have a theory that Violet is pregnant (as mentioned above). I disagree but think there is some other significance.
- Is it possible that Lilith was venin? There are a lot of hints regarding her limitless power.

- Bookmark this page. I spent hours reading and taking notes. I also discussed this book with friends who read it and spent many hours talking about theories.
- Write them down. Keep a list of theories and questions so you can look back and write answers when you get them.
