Hannah Orenstein Books

Hannah Orenstein was one of the first authors I discovered at the beginning of this website journey. I read and loved Playing with Matches, and I’ve been reading her books ever since. With beach reads season upon us, I wanted to make a complete list of all the Hannah Orenstein books so you can read them all.

Hannah Orenstein Books

Hannah Orenstein has quickly become one of the must-read authors for the Beach Read season. Her romance novels are always different with protagonists that sell jewelry, work as matchmakers, or do other fun jobs. None of her books are the same, but they all have something that is uniquely Hannah about them.

Each of the adult books on this list is a standalone novel, so you do not have to read the Hannah Orenstein books in order. Have a look at my descriptions and read them in any order you choose!

The New York dating scene is not the same as it was during the Sex in the City years. Tinder and other dating apps are taking over and matchmakers are back in fashion again. Sasha is a 20-something new matchmaker who seems to have it all until her romantic life implodes and she left trying to pick up the pieces.

The characters and the storyline had me totally engrossed. This Rom-Com is of the best matchmaker books for the beach.

The story of a jewelry store owner who gets sloshed and posts a faux-engagement announcement to her 100k Instagram followers had me cracking up and smiling from ear to ear. Watching Eliza trying to get out of the mess she created while falling for Blake, was just so entertaining!

I adored Orenstein’s debut, so I knew I had to get my hands on a copy of Love at First Like. Luckily, my friends at Atria were happy to send me a copy to review. I adored this jewelry novel. I lapped the whole thing up in one weekend at the beach. #gifted by Atria

Head over heels 1

Avery is a former Olympian whose disasterous performance ended her career, while her best friend went on to marry her emotionally abusive former coach and leave her in the dust. Struggling, she returns home where local coach, Ryan, asks her to help him train some young gymnasts. While she likes working with the kids, and her feelings grow for Ryan, she can’t help all the bad memories of her own gymanst days that rise up.

Emotional abuse, Sexual assault, Body Issues

A problematic book for me from one of my favorite romance writers.⁣ First the good. As always, I was charmed by Orenstein’s characters occupation. It gave me the indulgence I needed in the wake of the Olympic Games postponement.

But in this book, Orenstein attempts to tackle tougher subjects, like sexual abuse at the hands of a doctor which she did well, and emotional abuse at the hands of her former coach.⁣
The latter of which when it relates to her love interest is what I took issue with.

Meant to be mine

Edie’s Grandma Gloria has successfully predicted the date the members of their family will find their true love match since she found her own love in her childhood. Excited that her day has finally arrived, Edie immediately leaps into a relationship with musician, Theo.

But as she realizes the relationship isn’t falling together as easily as she thought it would, she’s forced to reckon with the ideas of fate and the grandma’s prophesies. After she learns another family member has lied about their own relationship timeline to please their grandma, she is forced to question everything she holds dear. Is Theo Edie’s one true love or is there someone else she should be with?

Hannah Orenstein continues to write stories I gobble up like chocolate. This was a fun beach read, but not my personal favorite of hers.

I love Hannah Orenstein, but I was immediately drawn to the description as “the Parent Trap for adults. And I happen to know a few people…(Kirsten and Cassie) who love Maine.

Vivian heads to her lake house in Maine to spread her father’s ashes and finds Lucy in the cabin. She realizes  Lucy is her half-sister, whom her father had hidden from her for her entire life, despite the inkling that her father had a secret.

Now the two women are in the lake house. Lucy’s marriage has fallen apart, and she needs to stay in the cabin. She has wonderful memories of being there with her father every July and wants to keep the cabin. Vivian wants to sell it for the money to start a new business with her boyfriend, who happens to be married. This book is like a modern-day parent trap, but the stakes are a little higher. Can these two get over the past to have a future together as a family?

This book is the perfect pick for the summer. The characters grow and change, and the small romance within the pages adds just the right touch. #gifted by PRH Audio
