The Newest Colleen Hoover Book

What is Colleen Hoover’s Newest Book?

It Starts with Us

Colleen Hoover’s newest novel is It Starts with Us, which is the sequel to It Ends with Us. It follows Lily Bloom as she embarks on parenting 2 years after the end of the first book in the series.

This book was written almost 6 years after the first was published and was partially brought about by the first book’s popularity on TikTok.

Top 5 Colleen Hoover Books

Verity

Verity by Colleen Hoover

This thriller is our favorite Colleen Hoover book. Lowen Ashleigh is an aspiring writer who is suffering from writer’s block. When circumstances suddenly present themselves for Lowen to be a ghostwriter for her favorite author, Verity Crawford, she is excited by the prospect.

Verity is currently comatose after an accident and is living with her husband and son. Lowen moves into their Vermont house so she can work from Verity’s office to finish her last book. As Verity works on the project, she begins to feel a romantic connection to Jeremy Crawford. She also finds Verity’s autobiography which presents a picture of a very different person than the one people see.

Why we like it: This thriller is filled with twists and turns. You never know where the story is going and who to trust. We can’t believe this Colleen Hoover book is her only thriller!

It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover

Lily is finally divorced from Ryle and is trying to deal with the aftermath of a divorce from an abusive spouse. When Atlas Corrigan shows up back in her life, Lily must decide if she can have a relationship with him and how Ryle will react. He was her first love and true soulmate.

Atlas also must confront his past which is filled with neglect and abuse. Can the two of them overcome their traumas to find a life together?

Why we Like it: This is the second book in the “It Ends With Us” series. I have to say that I liked this Colleen Hoover book a lot better than the first in the series. There are spicy scenes in the book but, I think the subject of abuse is less romanticized than in the first book.

November 9

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Fallon, a former actress who retired because of burns she sustained on half her body, meets Ben, an aspiring writer, as she is facing down her dad in a diner.

After coming to her rescue, Ben and Fallon spend the remainder of the day together before she leaves L.A. to start fresh in NYC. But not before making a pact to meet up again, at the same diner, in exactly one year.

What follows is a charming slow-burn romance that sees our main characters ONLY meeting up and communicating on November 9th for five straight years.

Why We Love It: The way their lives – and their relationship – go through ups and downs will have you on an emotional rollercoaster. Fallon and Ben’s love story reminded me just a bit of One Day but with a distinct twist only found in a Colleen Hoover book.

It Ends with US

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I enjoyed reading this book even though it was not what I thought it would be. This is a book about domestic abuse and the many ways it can present itself. To everyone, Lily and Rhyle seem to have the perfect relationship, even if Lily has been the exception to Rhyle’s no-dating rule. But behind closed doors, things are not the domestic bliss they appear to be.

I think this book addresses an important topic of domestic abuse and how the cycle can be confused with love. This is a definite trigger warning for anyone who is stuck in the cycle of abuse or has dealt with it in the past.

In thinking about this book, we also want to make the distinction between a strong, alpha-male character like Christian Grey and Rhyle who is abusive. He should not be romanticized or be the standard for any healthy relationship!

Why We Liked it: I thought this book was well-written and dealt with the subject matter in an approachable way. As per usual Colleen Hoover style, this one has steamy scenes, so prepare yourselves!

Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover

Beyah’s a few short months from going to college before her mother dies of an overdose, leaving her homeless. With no other options, she decides to move in with her estranged, wealthy dad for the summer.

As she works to connect with her dad, she finds herself drawn to the boy next door – except she doesn’t want any ties to Texas, and she’s not willing to risk her heart again.

Why We Liked it: This Colleen Hoover book gave an accurate depiction of what life as the child of an addict looks like, however, we don’t agree with its YA rating. Beyah and Samson’s relationship differently had me crying at the end though.

Which Colleen Hoover Book Should I Read First?

Colleen recommends reading the Slammed series first, but we think you can start with any of Colleen Hoover’s books! Jackie read It Ends with Us first and Kirsten opted for Ugly Love. As long as you aren’t starting in the middle of one of the series, you can really start anywhere!
