The Greek god Apollo, transformed into a mortal, is sent on a quest to regain his immortality. He sets off with his Demi-god master to free the Oracles from the Triumvirate. Along the way, they battle Roman emperors, make new friends, and get stuck in many deadly situations.

The first in a 5-part series, this is one Greek mythology retelling you won’t have read before. And while this is technically middle grade, if you love YA fantasy novels, you will love this book at any age.

Apollo, the now teenager, is going to Indianapolis with Meg to deal with the Triumvirate. He leaves Camp Half-Blood on this quest to help the Oracles and get reinstated as a God.

It’s a great story because it’s fun seeing cocky Apollo get decimated as an acne-riddled mortal named Lester.

This story is a segway between the second and fourth books in the series. Apollo and Meg are on a journey to prevent Camp Jupiter from being attacked by the evil triumvirate of Roman emperors.

While the book lacks a lot of plot, it fleshes out the characters and the relationship between Meg and Lester/Apollo.

In this book, Apollo goes to Camp Jupiter from the Heroes of Olympus series. He meets some old friends and he has to survive an onslaught of monsters and the triumvirate once again.

I like that this story checks in with characters I hadn’t seen in a while and it sets up the finale nicely.

The tower of nero

It’s officially the epic end of Apollo’s journey. Apollo and Meg must climb the tower of Nero to freeze the final Oracle. If they can’t stop what’s to come, the world will be destroyed by a giant serpent.

I thought this was a great ending to the Trials of Apollo series. It ties everything together and it’s nice to see the growth in Apollo. He’s come a long way from the first book.
