Novels About Jane Austen

I love all things Jane Austen. I read all the Pride and Prejudice retellings I can get my hands on, in addition to other retellings as well.

Jane Austen was an English novelist who lived from 1775 to 1817. In just 41 years, she managed to change the world of literature as we know it today. It feels only fitting that modern novels still include her and are inspired by her.

As part of a group of workers from the future, Liam and Rachel are sent back in time to diagnose Jane’s illness, and help her complete her next book.

I love the grittier side of this novel. It doesn’t romanticize the time period, very similar to the way Diana Gabaldon shows the harsh realities of life in the Highlands or onboard a ship at sea.

Tess is set to star in an adaptation of Northanger Abbey, the role of a lifetime. It is also her chance to prove to herself she can be a serious actress and honor her mother, who was a huge Jane Austen fan. Her co-star is a serious British actor, Hugh, who thinks Tess is a joke.

When an accident on set sends the two of them back to the Regency era, they will have to depend on each other to make it back to the present. Can they put their animosity aside and even find love in the process?

I am a sucker for a time-travel romance, and it was so fun to see Jane Austen pop up as a character in this one! Unlike many other time travel stories, the research the actors did made them fit easily into their temporary era, and it allowed the love story to flow charmingly. #gifted by St. Martin’s Press.
