9 Best Books for Baby Girls: A First Library Collection

Flora and the Flamingo and other books for baby girls

When a friend had her second child when I was away on vacation. By the time I got back, her registry had been picked over and there wasn’t much left for me to purchase. What is a bookworm to do? I had to figure out what are the best books for baby girls.

I decided to make the whole gift a new library. While there are adorable gender-neutral baby books and baby boy books, I wanted her to have some really girly options as well. We looked and found the best baby books for girls.

I discovered this jewel of a book last year I cried like a baby the first time I read it and it has become my go-to book selection for any newborn regardless of gender. But it’s a great one for older kids too.

The story is a wonderful look at the world and how it nurtures us. It’s a pick for the best baby books because it is a keepsake you’ll cherish forever.

Flora and the Flamingo by Molly Idle

I love the fact that this book has no words because it allows you and your child to make up the story together. Flora and the Flamingo dance together.

Your child can not only flip the pictures and dance with Flora. When you are done, you can put on some music and dance with your little one. This is one of our favorite interactive picture books.

Every girl has a favorite item they just can’t live without. For the little girl in this story, it’s a dress. As the girl grows, the dress becomes a t-shirt, a tank top, a skirt, and more until, finally, she finds a creative solution to wear it every day.
