Best Fantasy Duology Books
I love reading fantasy books. There is something so transportive about reading a book with magic and creatures. But, I do not always have the time to invest in a series with five or more books, each more than 500 pages. That is why fantasy duology books are perfect.

I read a lot of fantasy books. This year, I happened to read at least three books that are the first in a fantasy series. Now I have to wait a year or more for the next book to come out! To cure myself of the inevitable hangover, I created a list of completed fantasy duologies. These are the perfect books.
I know that I can find out what happens, and I do not need to invest a few thousand pages either. I hope you like this list. If there are books that I forgot, please let me know so I can add them to my TBR.

Plot
Elspeth has the voice of a monster in her head whom she calls Nightmare. He has been there for almost as long as she can remember.
After a meeting with a highwayman, who is actually the king’s nephew and the Captain of the Destiers, Elspeth joins him on a quest to save the kingdom from the surrounding mist. Nobody has ever come out of the mist alive. The two must work together and learn to trust each other while collecting 12 Providence Cards. Only when the cards are reunited can the curse be broken.
But Elpeth has another secret, the Nightmare is slowly getting stronger each time she uses his magic and she is having a harder time maintaining control over her mind. She knows that the next time she calls upon Nightmare’s magic to protect her, it might be the last thing she does.
Why Jackie loves it
This is an adult romance fantasy book unlike anything else I have read. Parts of the story read like a fairy tale and the concept of the Providence Cards is so unique and complex as each card gives its user a different magical ability. I immediately picked up the second book in the duology and wished it was a much longer series.

A Fate Inked in Blood
Author: Danielle L. Jensen
Year: 2024
Genre: Mythology
Spice Rating:💋💋💋
More Info: Saga of the Unfated Book 1 of 2
Age Range: 18+
Plot
I love Greek mythology retellings and recently have started reading mythology retellings from other cultures too! Outside of Marvel’s Thor movies, I don’t know much about Norse mythology, so I was particularly eager to dive into this book.
The first in a trilogy, the story follows Freya, who goes from being a fishwife to the kingmaker after her goddess blood is discovered. Sworn in oath to one man; but burning with passion for another, Freya is one of the fiercest heroines I’ve ever read.
Why Kirsten loves it
This STEAMY romantasy is filled with blood lust, battle scenes, and world-building. I was transfixed by Jensen’s ability to weave such a mythical world. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, especially after the way this one ended!!

All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace
It took me a few pages to get into the story about a would-be queen who needs to earn her right to rule. But, once I did, I zipped through it in only a few days. Considering that I am having a hard time finding the time to read and concentrate, that is big praise for this YA fantasy. This was a perfect getaway from reality, filled with magic and love, mermaids and monsters.Â

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a fantasy duology?
A fantasy duology is also called a fantasy duet. These are two book fantasy series. The interesting thing is that some of these duets are part of a larger series as well. I love these because you get a complete story that can feel epic, but without thousands of pages.
