Best Romance Books for 2023
Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
Will and Fern spent one amazing, adventure-filled day together in their early 20s with a promise to meet up again one year later. When Fern shows up and Will doesn’t, she is heartbroken.
Now, nine years later, Fern has inherited the lakeside resort that she never wanted to run, her ex-boyfriend is the resort manager, and she needs help. When Will shows up at the resort with an offer to help get things back in order, she doesn’t know if she can get over her old feelings and trust him again.
I absolutely loved this lake book. Set between Muskoka and Toronto, it reminded me of my childhood and teenage years! This is an absolute must-read romance novel! You can also find this book in our list of Hotel Novels to Indulge in on Vacation, and of course on our Ultimate Beach Reads 2023! If you are looking for books for summer, this one is for you.
Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
Any romance novel by Ali Hazelwood has become a must-read so, it is no surprise that I jumped at the chance to read her newest STEMinist romcom!
Elsie has learned to live two lives; an adjunct professor in theoretical physicist by day and a fake girlfriend the rest of the time (to make ends meet). She has also learned to read people and become the Elsie that they want her to be.
When she interviews for her dream job as a theoretical physics professor at MIT, her two worlds collide. How? I don’t want to ruin the surprise. Elsie learns what she really wants an how to ask for it in a delightful and charming way.
This steamy romance novel is a must-read from our ultimate list of beach reads. It’s one of my picks for the best romance books of 2023 too! If you are looking for books for summer, this one is for you.
Best Historical Romance Books
The Duke and I (Bridgerton #1) by Julia Quinn
I watched the show and LOVED it so much. I previously read some of the others in the series but I really wanted to read this first book in the Bridgerton book series and I have to say, it was my favorite.
There is something about Daphne and Simon that I adore. This book is a perfect historical romance. The Netflix book adaption smashed records and caused a boom in book sales.
Daphne Bridgerton is the fourth of eight children and is beginning her first season in the ton. As young women of marrying age search for a husband, Daphne is not quite like other girls.
When the eligible Simon Bassett suggests they fake-date to allow them both a chance to breathe, things do not always go as planned. And to make matters more complicated, Lady Whistledown always seems to know the truth and the information ready for everyone to read.
Are you a fan of Bridgerton? We’ve got a list of books like Bridgerton you will love! And if you love romance books, we have Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton Books in Order: Complete Guide to 20 Books.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (Outlander #1)
How do we love Outlander? We cannot count the ways. There is a reason this is one of my favorite books of all time.
This epic story begins in 1945 when Claire Randall and her husband take a second honeymoon to the Scottish Highlands to celebrate being reunited after the war. When Claire touches one of the standing stones, she is transported to 1743.
This is when the real story begins. In order to stay safe as an English woman in Scotland, she must depend on Jamie Frasier for protection. This book is definitely at the top of our list of best romance novels of all time but you will love it equally if you love historical fiction, magical realism, romance, or witches. This is one of the iconic and epic time travel romance books that has it all and is perfect for a list of books like A Discovery of Witches.
If you love Outlander you can check out these books just like it

So they decided on a quick wedding whilst staying with friends in the country. But when they get back to London, Julian realizes he might not want the perfect wife and Emily might just want to explore her freedom by finding her backbone.
Adorable and charming, this historical romance novel is perfect for our books like Bridgerton book list.

Office Romance Books
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Olive Smith is a Ph.D. student who does not believe in her ability to be in love. When her best friend develops a crush on someone she dated briefly, she decides to kiss the first man she sees in order to prove she is over him.
That one kiss happens to be with THE Adam Carlsen, an academic genius. The two decide to fake-date and what starts out as pretend, becomes something more- for Olive. I loved this fake dating, office romance novel and it has a well-earned spot on its list of the best romance novels of all time. If you love this book as much as we did, check out our post: Books Like the Love Hypothesis to Obsess Over
Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon
I’m an avid weather lover, so this was one of my most anticipated Winter 2022 new releases!
In this romance novel, weather girl Ari teams up with sports anchor Russ to get their feuding bosses back together Parent-Trap style.
Along the way they kindle sparks of their own! There are lots of fun weather puns, adorable scenarios for both romantic pairs, and love scenes that aren’t for the faint of heart🔥🔥🔥.
The best part of all is that the book deals with REAL life issues like depression, body image, teen pregnancy, and complex families. As romance books go, this is a must read.
The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon
Samiah Brooks becomes an unwilling internet sensation when she discovers her boyfriend is dating two other women. Instead of drama or fighting, Samiah, Taylor, and London form an instant tight bond of strong, smart, independent women and I absolutely loved their relationship with each other. The three women make a pact to spend the next six months bettering themselves and perusing their dreams and supporting each other.
Samiah has been thinking about developing a new app for years. Cue: a gorgeous, smart, and thoughtful new co-worker whose chemistry with Samiah is undeniable. I loved so many things about this book, especially the candid discussions about the struggles of a black woman in the workplace and the strong, supportive women in the book.
I also love that, unlike most romance books, this one did not pit the women against each other but had them join forces.
The Gorgeous Olive and June Spring 2023 Collection – O&J’s Farmer’s Market
Love the Olive & June Spring 2022 collection? You’ll probably love this one too!

Second Chance Romance Books
The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez
Romance books about music? SIGN ME UP FOR THEM ALL!
I had a really hard time reading during this “stay-at-home and homeschool three children while working” pandemic. I changed up my genres a bit and indulged in feel-good reads, romance books, and Fantasy.
This romance was a definite feel-good book with the most fun little twist. Every chapter has a song to go with it. It’s the perfect song to go with the mood of the chapter.
I loved this book so much that I immediately read the first book in this series.
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams
June 2021 Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick
The latest Reese’s Book Club pick was quite a unique read. It was billed as a romance but that doesn’t do this novel justice.
Yes, there are some steamy scenes, but this is one of the romance books that also deals with childhood trauma, drug addiction, racial issues, and single motherhood.
It was much heavier than I expected and had I been more in the mood for such a book, I think I would have rated it higher.
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
This is the most charming Halloween romance book about witches EVER. I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like it, but it’s perfect for the spooky season.
Nine years ago Rhys Penhallow broke Viviane Jones’ heart and so she cursed him. Now he’s back in the town his family founded to infuse magic back into the ley lines but everything goes wrong!
As his curse takes over the town, Rhys and Vivi have to work to end the curse and restore the right magic back to the town…if they can keep their rekindled romance at bay long enough! This is one of the most fun urban fantasy romance books on this list.

Best Contemporary Romance Books
Dial A for Aunties by Jessie Q Sutano
I heard great things about this romantic comedy/ murder mystery mashup. It sounds like the weirdest combo, right? This book had me laughing out loud.
Meddelin Chen has an amazing, meddling Chinese-Indonesian family. Meddelin and her four Aunts run a wedding business together. When Meddelin accidentally kills her date and he ends up in a cooler at a wedding with two thousand people, what can go wrong?
This comedy of errors is being adapted by Netflix and if it is anything like the book, it will be amazing too.
You’ll find this one on our list of family drama books if you want more reads like it!
We included this amazing book in our list of Feel Good Books
The Donut Trap by Julie Tieu
Jasmine has found herself working at her parents’ donut shop. She wants to do something else but, she is not sure what. When there is a rent hike and the business is threatened, Jasmine will do everything she can to save their livelihood.
Add to this story the reappearance of a college crush named Alex and this adorable rom-com has all the ingredients for a great story.
Rosie’s Travelling Tea Shop by Rebecca Raisin
I started Rosie’s Travelling Tea Shop and finished it in one day. I absolutely loved this book. I just could not out it down.
When Rosie’s husband declares their marriage over, she decides to leave her high-pressure London job as a sous-chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant and start a traveling tea shop.
Rosie is used to schedules and routines- can she adapt to a new way of living? This pick from the list of romance books is filled with food, books, and smiles. I loved every minute. If you need a feel-good book– that may make you a little hungry- you will love this. Perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan.

Best Sports Romance Books
Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes
I just adored this book. It was such a sweet and light pick from this list of romance books. When Evvie’s husband dies unexpectedly in a car crash, she is still staying in her house a year later. Everyone in her small town thinks that she is overcome with grief but in actuality, it is guilt.
Dean is a retired major league baseball pitcher who woke up one day and was unable to throw the ball over the plate. When he moves into the apartment in the back of Evvie’s house the two become friends and agree to never talk about baseball or the dead husband.
The Proposal (The Wedding Date #2) by Jasmine Guillory
February 2019 Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick
I read this book on one plane flight. It was light, funny, and completely predictable. When Nikole’s “boyfriend” proposes to her at a baseball game and cannot even spell her name correctly, it is a recipe for disaster.
Luckily, Carlos and his sister are at the game to help Nik escape the onslaught of paparazzi waiting. You can guess the rest. This is a great light read and the perfect pick from a list of romance books to read in the summer.
Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey
So, I didn’t know exactly what I was getting myself into when I started reading this romance. It was definitely a lot steamier than I had anticipated. When Travis Ford, an injured and retired baseball superstar, returns back home, he is in a state of depression.
Georgette Castle, the best friend’s little sister, knows just how to smack some sense into him. While Georgette is able to get Travis to stop wallowing in self-pity, he decides to help her family take her more seriously. Having a job as a clown can make that difficult. It was a great romance that has many a 17+ scene but, it’s a fun summer read

LGBTQ Romance Novels
House on the Cerulean Sea by T.J Klune
Linus Baker works as a caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He is sent on a mission to a secret orphanage isolated on an island where 6 of the world’s most dangerous youth live. Linus is sent to determine if the children are being cared for properly. Linus, who lives his life by the book, will have to look deeper to try and find the real answers to his questions. This story was so much more than the sum of its parts.
The magic and the orphan aspect are all reminiscent of Harry Potter. The story has just a touch of magic but somehow seems completely relevant to our society now. This magical realism book is a must-read for anyone who needs a feel-good book.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
This is the second book I read this month about fake boyfriends but this one hit all the right notes. This was such an adorable LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 romance. When Luc, the son of two rock stars, needs a boyfriend who is respectable in order to keep his job, he is willing to fake a relationship.
Oliver Blackwood is a barrister who needs a boyfriend to bring home to his family. It is a perfect situation until fake starts to feel real. Despite the fact that the two men could not be more different, the just might be the perfect Ying and Yang. This book was so enjoyable to take my mind off reality and it made me smile throughout the whole book
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun
I loved this romance that seems loosely based on the the tv series the Bachelor. Dev is a producer on the long-running television show Ever After where he crafts love stories to get people to fall in love.
When the show casts Charlie as the Prince Charming, Dev will have to put in more work than he bargained for. Charlie is only on the show to restore his image so he can go back to work and he certainly does not believe in true love. As Dev tires to coach Charlie in ways to connect with the contestants, Dev and Charlie realize they might have more chemistry than any of the contestants. This is such a great romance. It will leave you smiling.
Thank you to Atria for my copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Best Friends to Lovers Romance Books
People we Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
Do you believe Harry (from When Harry Met Sally) when he said “women and men can’t be friends.” ?
We are sure that he’s wrong, but one of our favorite tropes is friends to lovers. People We Met on Vacation is the latest beach read from Emily Henry and it’s addicting.
Poppy has been best friends with Alex since a car ride home from college a decade ago. Since then, they’ve gone on vacation together every year until 2 years ago when it all came crashing down.
Will they recover their friendship with one more trip or will their relationship be irrevocably ruined? This is the perfect beach, poolside read, or vacation read. You should be sure to add it to your summer reading romance books list.
When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting
Avery Spark owns and runs an event hotel with her two sisters. She doesn’t really have time to date. She spends her time when she is not working with her best friend and roommate Declan.
When Avery has a car accident and Declan feels responsible, the two end up spending more time together than they ever have. Eventually, the chemistry between them is undeniable. This best-friend-to-boyfriend romance really hit the mark for me.
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
Do you love Christmas movies? Are you obsessed with Romance books? Do you need to swoon? If you answered yes to any of those questions, stop everything and order In a Holidaze. This is possibly my favorite Christmas novel of all time.
I adored Mae and Andrew’s love story. It’s set up like Groundhog’s Day with Mae repeating the same Christmas vacation until she gets it right. And man… does she get it right. Peppermint Kisses, Sexy Sledding, Snowball Fights, Christmas Tree trimming… this book is oozing with cheer-filled holiday goodness with a few scenes that are steamier than a cup of cocoa.

Enemies to Lovers Romance Novels
Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore
Evie Dunmore’s debut novel spanned a series of badass women during the Suffragette era. While the story is a romance, don’t let that fool you! You’ll get a history lesson on the suffrage movement in English History as well as a lesson on Estate and Inheritance laws — which were still of utmost importance a few decades later when Downton Abbey takes place.
Annabelle Archer has the scholarship to be one of the first women to study at Oxford. In order to keep it, she must spy on the Duke of Montgomery and try to persuade him to the suffragette’s cause. The chemistry between these two crackled off the page in this romance. If enemies-to-lovers books are up your alley, this book is perfect for you and it is perfect for a list of books like The Love hypothesis.
This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens
When two women are in the hospital in labor and there is one huge cash prize for the first baby born in 1990, one child will be born into a charmed life and the other will be named Minnie Cooper.
Just in time for New Year’s, this book is a perfect pick from our romance books. When Minnie meets Quinn on the eve of their thirtieth birthday, well, it is the meet-cute of the decade. I can see this rom-com on the big screen- hint and would love every second. This is an enemies-to-lovers book at its best.
Well Met by Jen DeLuca
Sometimes you read a book and you just want to go back and read it again. I loved Well Met!!! I never thought I would be interested in a renaissance fair but this book gave me all the feels. Emily lost her job and her boyfriend at the same time that her big sister broke her leg. Emily decides to move to Willow Creek to help her sister care for 14-year-old April, where she is promptly tricked into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire run by Simon.
So now Emily is a wench…Simon is a Pirate…and obviously, we know where this story is going. It’s the journey on this one, guys. It’s filled with feels, cute scenes, and romance. I couldn’t put it down. I’m pretty sure hearts actually came out of my eyes at multiple points while reading. I loved it so much!!! This book gives me total modern-day Pride and Prejudice vibes

Best Time Travel Romance Books
The Time Traveler’s Wife By Audrey Niffenegger
Clare and Henry have an unusual love story. They’ve known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, but got married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry was thirty-one. You see, Henry is an adventurous librarian who inadvertently travels through time.
I adore how this story explores very real challenges that any couple faces. With the added time travel element, it becomes an unforgettable pick from our list of romance books. The way that they fight for their love gives this book its clear spot on our list of best romance novels of all time. But be warned, this book may emotionally wreck you.
While I realize there is only the loose librarian connection to this book list, Henry and Clare’s story is one of my all-time favorites and it shouldn’t be missed. If you are going to read a time travel romance book, this is one that should not be missed. You can find more books like this on our list of 23 of the Best Time Travel Books Like the Time Traveler’s Wife.
The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley
I read this book set in Cornwall in only a few days because I loved it so much. This is another book that I read this month that is the perfect pick for books like Outlander.
After Eva’s sister dies, she heads back to Cornwall England to find peace and rest. What she discovers is more than she expects when she finds herself inexplicably back in time. As her heart begins to feel again, can she find a way to heal her broken heart and find love? This is a wonderful time travel romance book that you will want to read again and again.
Scribe of Siena by Melodie Winawer
A perfect summer read about a neurosurgeon who is transported back to Siena in the time of the plague. The narrative makes me feel like I am in Italy.
Depicted as Outlander meets Girl with a Pearl Earring, at its heart, it is a love story. I could not put it down and finished it as a perfect start to the summer reading season. I love this time travel book set in Italy and it is the perfect time travel romance book for a list of books like Outlander.

Love Triangle Romance Books to Read Now
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
March 2019 Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick
This best book of 2019 pick needs to be listened to, not read. Seriously, I think this might be one of the best audiobooks of all time.
I expect it to sweep the Audies this year for sure because full cast audiobooks can really take the story to the next level. The book is laid out in chronological order about the making of a band in the 70s, but the story is told in interview style from a dozen sources.
The audio version has a different narrator for each character and the performances the actors give are stupendous. I was overcome with emotion numerous times while I was listening. The story itself about the rise and fall of one of the hottest bands was so utterly fabulous – it’s pure sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll in all the best ways. This is one of the novels about music that isn’t for the faint of heart and is a feel-good book you will not want to miss.
Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Sophie Cousens
Laura is a romantic who is a lifestyle reporter. She specializes in segments in which people tell the romantic ways they met. Unfortunately, she has never met the guy and it doesn’t help that her parents’ love story was epic.
When she goes on a work trip to Jersey and picks up the wrong suitcase, she is hoping that this may be the start of her own meet-cute. As she travels around the island simultaneously uncovering parts of her parents’ story and searching for the suitcase man, she begins to uncover secrets as well.
This book was a perfect, imperfect pick from this list of romance books. Sophie Cousens has not written a book that we didn’t love.

Fake Dating Romance Books
The Wedding Date (The Wedding Date #1) by Jasmine Guillory
This was such a fun read- it was perfect to take with me for a weekend away. When Alexa gets stuck in an elevator with Drew, she makes the crazy choice to accompany him as a fake wedding date to a wedding the next day. If you love fake dating books, this is one of the books like The Love Hypothesis you must read.
What she didn’t account for was the fact that there might be some real attraction between them. She is a good girl and he is a commitment-aphobe. Can they make it work?
The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee
For the last two years, I have been emotionally dependent on romance books to take me away from the reality of the pandemic. Every time I think that things are looking up, I am thrown for a loop.
Tara does not do relationships because one heartbreak is enough. But, when she meets her best-friends new brother-in-law, sparks fly between them.
Suddenly, Tara finds herself in a dare to date the gorgeous and tempting Seth Kim without falling in love. This book was everything that I hoped it would be and is perfect if you loved the love hypothesis book.
The Lady Tempts an Heir by Harper St. George
The third book in the gilded age series is giving me the gilded age book vibes I’ve been craving since watching the new HBO series.
Max, the heir to the Crenshaw fortune, is being forced to marry or risk his sister’s newest project. He decided to enter into a fake engagement with Lady Helena that turns into a lust-fueled relationship.
I loved the push-and-pull of their hearts and heads. We know where this story is ending, but the journey was oh so good.

Romance Books About Books
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
The Bookshop on the Corner #1
This contemporary fiction book was the first book that I read by Jenny Colgan and is different from her others. It is not centered around food but rather, books.
When Nina, a librarian, finds herself without a job, she decides to embark on a journey with a mobile bookshop. There is nothing not to love in this sweet book. And if you love Jenny Colgan as much as we do, you can check out our post: The Best Jenny Colgan Books Ranked.
The Bookshop on the Seine by Rebecca Raisin
What could be better than a book about a bookstore, Paris, and Christmas- especially at Christmas time? When Sarah Smith, a bookshop owner is offered a chance to do a bookshop exchange with her Parisian friend, she jumps at the chance.
Her bookshop has been struggling, her boyfriend is consistently away on assignments and she feels stagnant. She hopes Paris will be just what she needs.
I wish the relationship between Sarah and her boyfriend was more believable. I feel like I came in without a background of why these two are together for reasons other than their chemistry. This book was a cute and easy pick from our list of romance books.
Aria’s Travelling Book Shop by Rebecca Raisin
Thank you HQ digital and Netgalley for my copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This is the second book that I read by Rebecca Raisin and I adored Rosie’s Traveling Tea Shop.
This is a cute book centered around Aria who has a romance book shop. Aria began van life when her husband became sick and continued after he had passed away. This is the story of Aria’s search for her happy ending. I enjoyed this quick and easy read.

Neighbor Romance Novels
The Royals Next Door by Karina Halle
Ya’ll know I love myself a royal read. This particular read is about a teacher who ends up having Prince Eddie and his new bride (AKA Harry and Meghan) move into the house next door.
Sparks fly with the royal bodyguard, friendships bloom with the Duke and Duchess, and I am basically the person on the cover. Such an enjoyable read!
The Suite Life by Melanie Summers
Bree and Leo’s love story is adorable. It’s once again set at the fabulous Paradise Bay and as usual Melanie’s humor had me giggling throughout.
The antics at Paradise Bay remind me of the shenanigans of The White Lotus, so if you loved that tv series, you will love this book series (although isn’t
How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan
I’m a SUCKER for any fiction story that has a home renovation story in it. Add in a swoon-worthy neighbor, a charming best friend, and a second home renovation and I’m pretty sure this is the perfect romance for me.
I absolutely adore this book because their was no stupid break-up halfway through, just an enemies-to-lovers couple learning to communicate in their new relationship. A perfect romance for Valentine’s Day.

Best Neurodiverse Romance Books
The Heart Principle (The Kiss Quotient Series #3) by Helen Hoang
I have read all three of the books in the kiss quotient series and loved them all but this book is special. This is my favorite of all of the Helen Hoang books thus far. Anna is a violinist whose career is stuck as she finds herself unable to play a single song to the end. When her boyfriend of 5 years announces that they are going to see other people before getting married, Anna decides to go on a dating app. Her plan: one-night stands.
Who does she find? Quan. This book is more than a romance. Hoang does an amazing job of bringing Anna and her struggles with her identity to life. Her pain is palpable and I found myself having trouble breathing I was so upset.
This is Hoang’s best book yet and as books for book clubs go, this one will definitely give you so much to discuss.
A Brush With Love by Mazey Eddings
Harper is a dental student who has worked so hard over the past three years to get into the best oral surgery program in the country. She will not let anyone or anything stand in her way. Her determination and grit remind me of Olive and this book needs to be included on a list of Books Like The Love Hypothesis.
When Harper crashes into Dan, a first-year dental student, everything changes. Despite being determined to stay “just friends”, Harper is finding that harder every day.
I enjoyed this pick from our list of romance books. There are detailed descriptions of Harper’s anxiety which at times is completely debilitating. I liked the fact that this book looks at anxiety and depression as a part of these characters without glossing over the realities.
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
You know how this book is going to end even before you start reading it. However that does not make the journey any less enjoyable. I found it to be cute and endearing.
Don Tillman has Asberger’s and, as he’s the narrator, we get to listen to every unfiltered though he has in his quest to find a wife.

Forced Proximity Romance Books to Read Now
The Name Curse by Brooke Burroughs
Bernie is nothing like her great aunt Bernice. Bernice was adventurous and spontaneous while Bernie has not taken a vacation in years.
When her friends and family convince her to go on a hike to Alaska, Bernie can’t find an excuse not to go. When she meets Matthew on the trailhead and discovers that the two will be sharing a tent, he is clearly annoyed and she questions her choices.
This romance was such a fun read. Bernie and Matthew are funny and sweet and I loved every minute.
Castle of Water by Dane Huckelridge
This is a wonderful book about love and survival. It is so much more than it appears on the surface. It’s a beautifully written book.
When Sophie and Barry find themselves on an Island as the sole survivors of a plane crash, they learn to depend on each other. The book moves seamlessly from the past to the present, weaving and intricate tale. It’s one of Kirsten’s all-time favorites.
The Devil and the Heiress by Harper St. George
The follow-up to Harper St. George’s Gilded Age romance series was another fun pick featuring the younger Crenshaw heiress.
This time, Violet Crenshaw, looking to escape and arranged marriage to an odious man, looks to the Earl of Leigh to help her escape to Scotland. But the Earl has a different plan with the bubbly lady he wishes to call his own.

Star-Crossed Lover Romances
The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
This is the first book by Abby Jimenez however, I read it after I read Happy Ever After Playlist. I loved looking at the relationships develop in characters that I already knew.
Even though this book is characterized as a women’s fiction/ romance, there is more to it than meets the eye. It delves into the issue of infertility in a very real way. I love the characters in the book and enjoyed every minute
Juliet: A Novel by Anna Fortier
I ADORE this book set in Italy and have read it numerous times. What if Shakespeare’s Juliet was real and was actually a curse? Alternating between the “real” Juliet’s story and her modern-day descendant’s story, the book proves that love transcends time.
I can’t put my finger on why this story makes my top 10 favorite books, but it’s a comfort read that I go to whenever I need a pick-me-up. I re-read it again and again! It has a little bit of everything – romance, a mystery, a contemporary and historical element. I
t’s such a unique and amazing classic retelling and was a no-brainer pick for a list of the best romance novels of all time and was obviously going to be included in our Ultimate List of Romance Books. The epic love story also makes it perfect for a list pf books like Outlander.
One Day in December by Josie Silver
Another book I absolutely adored. This second chance love story takes place over 10 years and you’ll be rooting for this couple the entire time.
The perfect winter romance – this one is a bit steamy – that will have you smiling from ear-to-ear. I listened to this one from my local library, but it would be just as good in print.

The Best Romance Books About Authors
Beach Read by Emily Henry
This is one of the best romance books I have read in a long time. What could be better than a romance about writers? January is a romance writer who no longer believes in love. Until she was 28, she led an idyllic life filled with the ideas of perfect love.
Augustus Everett is a literary fiction writer who has never believed in love. They could not be more different. When they find themselves living next door to each other they decide to help each other overcome their writer’s block by challenging each other to a writer’s duel. This might be my favorite pick from our list of enemies-to-lovers books. Emily Henry books never disappoint!
By Any Other Name by Lauren Kate
What is there not to love about this book? Lanie is an editor and is given the chance to work with her idol- THE Noa Callaway. Noa is late on her next manuscript and Lanie has to help her with her writers block. That shouldn’t be a problem- even if nobody has met Noa in person.
This romance was so much fun to read. Any book about books gets extra points and this one check even more boxes with the light and fin story that was easy to read.

Tear Jerker Love Stories: Must Reads
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Me Before You has quickly become a classic story – and a movie to boot. When a young man becomes paralyzed his parents hire a young woman to be his companion. As love blooms, and she tries to convince him that life is still worth living, the reader questions what they would sacrifice to make a loved one happy.
Always, in December by Emily Stone
I was blow away by this tear-jerking story. It was a romance story for the first 30% of the book, but then it becomes something much more deep.
Josie mails a letter to her deceased parents every Christmas, but this Christmas she accidentally hits a stranger named Max with her bike on the way to the post box.
As she explored the holiday season with Max her feelings start to grow, but when he leaves unexpectedly, she’s left to deal with the aftermath of the impact he had on her heart. But fate isn’t done with their story yet as they bump into each other throughout the year.
Probably my favorite Christmas book of 2021, this one is a tear-jerker for sure. I sobbed for the entire last 10% of the book. This book is a testament to the healing power of love and the kind of impact each of us can make on each other.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you are looking for a Christmas book that ends with a bow and smile, you may want to look elsewhere.
The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo
A warm and yet sad story about an intense love that ends. The story goes from good to excellent when we see how the former lovers support each other over the years in their future relationships and how their own relationship evolves. Be prepared with a box of tissues when you read this one. I was bawling like a baby by the end.

Best YA Fantasy Romance Books
Cinder by Melissa Meyer
This 4 book series is set in the future in a time of disease and war. This series is part twisted fairy tale, part dystopia, and part sci-fi fantasy.
Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel are re-imagined as you have never seen them before. All of them are smart and strong women far from the helpless damsels in distress we know them to be.
The first book introduces us to Cinder. She is a cyborg (part human, part machine) who lives with her……..you guessed it….. two step-sisters and stepmother.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
This book has a cult-like following for a reason. The first book in the series is a loose fairy tale retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in the world of Prythian. Magical creatures, humans, and fae are all prominent in the book.
This is a fast-paced, addicting, fantasy romance series. A love triangle develops by the end of the story and book two is jaw-dropping! This is on its way to becoming a classic from the list of enemies-to-lovers books. You will want to binge this series in one week. We could not leave this epic romance off a list of the best romance novels of all time.

The Selection by Kiera Cass
We have talked about this series so many times that it has its own blog page of books that are similar. It is so much fun- think hunger games meets the bachelor. It’s a reality-tv royal match-making contest in a dystopian world.
But, in this case, the bachelor also happens to be the future king. Can you imagine if William held a contest to see who would be the future princess?
